Finding God(dess)

1542087429106blob

I’ve been thinking a lot about God(dess) lately.  Mostly due to this amazing book that landed in my life.  And last night I had one of those “aha moments” that I have decided to  summarize as follows:

The purpose of human life is to look inward and find God(dess).

Or as R.W. Emerson so profoundly states:

“That only which we have within, can we see without.  If we meet no Gods it is because we harbor none.”

Hope Versus Expectations

In the beautiful/painful journey towards inner truth, the difference between hope and expectation is difficult to untangle.  The lessons are very uncomfortable.  But time,  experience, and willingness can lead us towards this clarity:  while the “black and white” nature of expectations are often unmet and we suffer . . . hope, instead teaches us that we can still want something very much while simultaneously cultivating a back-up plan for other ways of being in this world . . . including the willingness to live with a broken heart.

Make time to rest

In order to be our best selves it becomes mandatory to prioritize rest.  This means treating yourself as though you are precious . . . well . . . because you ARE.  Write REST on your calendar.  Schedule it.  Plan for it.  Arrange support; whatever that looks like in your life.

And then . . . do it.  Because YOU KNOW how much trouble you get into when you don’t.  And YOU KNOW how good you feel when you do.

So.

Do.

And remember . . . Miss Ruby loves you very much.

If you are struggling . . .

If you are struggling from addiction, know that every single breath is a fresh start.

Know that there is ALWAYS hope.

Know that hundreds of thousands of families who have lost someone to this disease are praying and rooting for you.

Know that I believe with all my heart that you can and will make it. It is never too late.

Is it a door or a window?

You know that old phrase that goes something like “when God closes a door He opens a window”?  Well . . . I realized today that you have to be up against a wall to work either option . . . and they both open to possibilities.

I’m just sayin’.

If you’ve hit that wall today . . . call me.  Text me.  I can help.

Remember . . . Miss Ruby loves you very much.

How we bring peace to our world

goddream

“Our nature is goodness.  Yes, we do much that is bad, but our essential nature is good.  If it were not, then we would not be shocked and dismayed when we harm one another.  When someone does something ghastly, it makes the news because it is the exception to the rule.  We live surrounded by so much love, kindness, and trust that we forget it is remarkable.  Forgiveness is the way that we return what has been taken from us and restore the love and kindness and trust that has been lost.  With each act of forgiveness, whether small or great, we move toward wholeness.  Forgiveness is nothing less than how we bring peace to ourselves and our world.”

If you struggle with resentment and anger and don’t know how to forgive someone, but really want to, please contact me today and let’s create a plan to let it go.

i don’t know what to say

Doesnt.jpg

So.  I got up this morning with a heart full of ideas and prayers and I feel SO compelled to write something that will make all this shit better.

I got nuthin’.

Except this:  Remember that we are ALL more alike than different.  Remember we all are connected.  When I hurt you . . . I hurt me and everyone around me.

And I’m sorry.  I really am!

Forgive me.

Seriously, WTF are we doing?  I wanna’ hug everyone but I’m so mad and scared.

Can we please remember that we are all humans, struggling, but capable of so much beauty and love.  You know it’s true.  I know it’s true.

Let’s just start acting like it, okay?

I’m going to go have a good cry now.  Then I got work to do.
